Crackdown – Xbox

Crackdown is like being a God but smaller…

Crackdown is a free-roaming urban action game, set in Pacific City, ruled by criminals. Because of this, the very little police force make a super powered clone called an ‘Agent’ to clean up the streets, and get rid of the gang lords….

This game has got to be good, as it was made by the same guy that made GTA! At the start your powers are the same as a normal person’s, but after a while of kicking butt you’ll turn into a right little superman and be able to jump buildings, pick up cars, suck up bullets and blast away gang members like paper. You can do these by earning some of the five skills ( Strength, Driving, Agility, Firearms and Explosives)…

Crackdown can be really funny due to the flexible aiming which lets you practically and easily shoot out a speeding car’s wheels so it flips over. Then there’s the explosions; pile up cars, plant a detonater and watch the show!!! It’s brilliant!!! The cars all blow up into the air, and you dodge the debris as it comes down (tyres, doors, cars) and nearly crushes you… FUN!!

Crackdown’s a laugh but you might get bored after a while and the guns don’t pack the umph like its supposed to. Thankfully, the rest is great and the climbing is flexible as you scale buildings and cling on to windows…

RATING: 77%

It’s good, but you may get bored after a while.

Hour Of Victory – Midway – Xbox 360

254px-hour_of_victory.jpg

At first, Hour Of Victory sounds great – you control three heroes (Operative Taggert, Commando Ross, or Army Ranger Bull), each with a different skill and at the start of each mission, you chose who to play as. In the next clip, the producers of this game talk about each characters strengths. Enjoy;

But all you do then is walk up to locked door, or wall and press X to get past it, using your players skill. No skills needed at all! Some bad guys will attack you, but thay are just too easy to wipe out! You can kill everyone in a room with just melee attacks in a matter of seconds!

And that’s not all the problems. The graphics are ugly. REALLY UGLY. This means the stages that could have looked amazing (Like the one with the German castle, the Library or the wild plains of Africa in the first stage)  now look boring. And they all play in a boring manner too.

The vechiles are terrible to control. There is a mission where you must drive a tank out of a wintry German castle is atrocious. the tank slips and sldes everywhere, then sinks into the ground a bit, before being magneticly pulled to a wall with no signs of a magnet!!

And I don’t even want to remind myself it’s set in WW2. At least Call Of Duty 4 got the picture. The dogfights are alright on this as well, with impressive explosions – but still not up to standard!

RATING: 34%

If you going to buy this, try out COD 4, or Medal Of Honor first.

Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure – Capcom – Wii

Enter the puzzling world of Zack and Wiki, where apparently dead creatures can be used as tools!

477763208.jpg

Zack and Wiki is a puzzle game that goes along the story-line of a boy and his flying monkey, off on an adventure to find peices of a dead pirate captain’s body. There’s also your rival to deal with. She’s a mad, ‘lipstick as war-paint’ girl. Sounds weird. Sounds fun!

The game is set in 24 stages, most fairly similar to the game ‘Mousetrap’. With the goal – a treasure chest – in plain sight, you’ve just got to work out how to get to it. Will you manage to clog on of the games many, strange machanisms and get to the goal, or go down the wrong path and end up dead? The choice is up to you. Some puzzles include light refraction logic, whist others include gothics cogs and eerie machines. All the puzzles need a lot of thought,and a lot of waving the Wii-mote around. Here’s a preview of the begining;

The gameplay of this game is impressive, and, as I said, needs alot of thought. No need to worry about remembering stuff, though – you can often doodle solutions on the screen… I havn’t seen that idea before… There is also a function that let’s you zoom out to see a cross-section of the whole stage. This helps to work out what to do next. The boss battles are pretty much the same as the levels, exept with a monstrous beast trying to skin you alive. This is very frustrating when you die as you almost work out what to do next.

The graphics of Zack and Wiki are some of the best I’ve seen on the Wii. If you thought the graphics were good on Mario galaxy, try playing THIS!

348549198.jpg

All together, Zack and Wiki is a very impressive game. It’s a must for the Wii for sure!

RATING: 89%

If you played and enjoyed this, try Mario Galaxy on the Wii!

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles – Capcom – Wii

Resident Evil is the seventh main installment of Capcom’s world famous series. O.k, maybe they’re just overdoing it a bit by making yet another resident evil game; STOP IT NOW!!!!!

Anyway, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles is for the Wii, which looks impressive, with good graphics. It’s an on the rails shooter and takes you through all the games – it goes through the mansion (from the first Resi Evil ever made!) through to Resident Evil Zero, and Resident Evil Nemises. There are also a few areas from Resi Evil 2.

Anyway I think its a Resi that doesn’t need to be here today, in fact your better off with Time Crisis 4(I can’t believe I said that!!!)

Despite the bad bits, I think if your a true Resi Gamer, you should buy it because the graphics are brilliant, and is like sharing an old and gutwrenching memory with the history of this game.

RATING: 61%

If you liked this, try the previous Resi games.

Usually, Call Of Duty and nearly all other war games were based in ww2, but this time, it’s changed……

256px-callofduty4mwfcov.jpg

Activision decided to take a big risk when making Call Of Duty 4- it’s now set in the near future as terrorists fight against the Usa with a rumor of a nuclear threat.  And guess what; it has definitly paid off! You play as two people in the game, one is an ex-soldier and another is an SAS soldier trying to fight the war…

Because of a new era, the weapons, vechiles and tactics are all different. Also, there’s more space that gives the illusion that your not going down a tight corridor with no choice (like other games) and its more gungho with bullets flecking as you desperately look for cover. You have more company as well as there will be more team mates with you as you fight and the ragdoll phisics are brillant, in all the time I played this I never saw a man die in the same way twice!!!

There is one problem … The game has decided to go on an outing to the Ds as well, where it has lost all credability, due to the poor graphics, finger-cramping controls, and no such thing as multiplayer. On the brighter side, they have put a good use to the touch screen – which I like to see! But, hey, why have they brought out a Ds version and not a Wii one?!

The Xbox and Ps3 versions of COD 4 are exellent, if difficult, for all the reasons stated before. Oh, and NO MORE NAZIS!!!!!!!!

CHEATS:

Golden Weapons – complete the right challenges to unlock golden weapons:

Golden AK-47 – Complete all assualt rifle challenges.

Golden Desert Eagle – Reach level 55.

Golden Dragonuv – Complete all Sniper challenges.

Golden M60 – Complete all LMG challenges.

Golden Mini Uzi – Complete all SMG challenges.

The graphics are great on 360 and Ps3, and the game is a refreshing change to WW2. Plus, you never feel like your alone because there’s always a soldier to fight with you. This can be this game’s undoing, though, because you will find that it pressures you to fight with your friends otherwise youll find yourself (unless your on easy) constantly dead!!

Despite this small set back, I think this game deserves an…

RATING: 85%

This high score is for being daring and refreshing (for not always going on about ww2!!!!). Due to the descusting Ds version, I decided to give the game on that console a different rating…

Gears Of War – Xbox 360, Pc

.jpg

Dirt spits up as you fire a round blindly into the dust, your mate goes down and you watch as the monster firing at you goes down too. You run to your mate as more come out of the ground, only this time, your out of ammo…

This is what Gears Of War is like, and it’s brilliant! Set in a different planet humans colonised. Then these creatures rise out of the ground and start killing everyone…

You play as a tough nut soldier imprisioned for trying to help your dad as the Locusts (the creatures) ravage him. But luckily for you, and due to lack of soldiers, the government decides to release you to fight the Locusts….

This game is based around cover and flanking, shoot like an idiot and don’t use cover and you’ll wake up dead – its all about cover. Also, the locusts come out of the ground so you have to be catious all the time for ambushes..

The graphics here are great, with stunning and sometimes very gorey visuals. The gameplay is just as good – you really do have to have a good strategy (unlike in Hour Of Victory, where you can just destroy everyone with one melee attack)!

HINTS:

COG tags – when looking for COG tags, get out your lancer and cut up barrels, chests, sofas etc, and go different ways. I got all 30 tags this way!!

CHEATS:

Secret Gamer Picture – Complete the game on Casual or Hardcore to unlock Insane difficulty, then complete the game again. This will unlock a secret gamer picture with the red gear sybol on and a Marcus Fenix.

the graphics are great and everything is right but, because of that, it costs an arm and a leg!!!!This is a team shooter and can be played in co-op.

Brilliant game but it costs way to much even now so I’d give it a….

RATING: 92%

Club Penguin – Online

top.jpg
Club Penguin is one of Miniclip’s biggest Online games, where you run, jump and play in an icy world… As a penguin…

You start the game off as a blank penguin, then buy different colours, clothes and more in the shops littered around the world. There are loads of mini games to play, including sufing, sledging, and flying a jet pack!

9997.jpg

The graphics of this game exel that of Runescape, but the world is much smaller. this means that there is lots of times when the world is full. thankfully, just like runescape, they have created lots of the same world, so there is never a time when you can’t get into Club Penguin. Another good aspect is that, unlike runescape, where you must travel along the road for ages to get to a certain area, you can just click on a certain area of the map and your there!

Overall, I think Club Penguin as a brighter version of Runescape, with better graphics, and stranger inhabitants. I even have a penguin there! If you want to get an account up on Club Penguin, click this link:

http://play.clubpenguin.com/load.swf

CHEATS: Secret Areas:
There are some secret areas that don’t show their name when you brush over their location on the map. These are:

Dojo – to get to the Dojo, simply click on the mountains in the distance.

3741825360.jpg< The red ring shows where the Dojo is!!!!!

Ice Burg – to get to this small and often over crowded island,  just click on the small island to the right of the map.

 * You can get to all these places via a secret base if you become a Secret Agent. Just wait a certain amount of days ( Usually 40) then ask to become a Secret Agent. You will have to answer some very easy questions, before being permitted. Good Luck.

MORE CHEATS:

1)Nubbing
a. Go to Club Penguin.
b. Go to somewhere like the Town
c. If there isn’t a space under the chat bar then press F11
d. Click the gap underneath the chat bar and you should be nubbing

2) Catch the Big Fish in Ice Fishing
a. Once the end of the Ice Fishing level comes, catch a small fish and save it.                                                                                                                          b
. Later, when the big fish comes, hold the line with the fish on it in front of the big fish and he will eat it

3) Astro Barrier Secret!
a. Go play Astro Barrier
b. At the Astro Barrier menu, press 1, 2, or 3 if you want to go to level 10, 20, or 30.

Medal Of Honour: Airbourne – xbox 360, Pc

I won’t lie, it’s a hard game. You practically shoot a whole clip into one Nazi just to see him impossibly flying up in the air while you get shot and, let me tell you, your character is so weak, save yourself some dignity and blow yourself up!!!!

It’s all set in ww2 (as usual) and your character Boyd Travers is in the 82nd airbourne and (still believing that one man can save the world, pah, developers,  will they ever learn?) there’s a twist. They push you out a plane to get on with it in lots of different countries, killing germans as you go…

9.jpg

as soon as your out the plane, you have full control –  adding to a new type of gameplay.you could land on towers to pick soldiers off, ambush the enemy by landing straight on thier heads, land in the green smoke to get some safety and lots of health and ammo, or just cock up your landing (different landings, botched, flared-press A when your just about to hit the ground or greased-you can figure it out.) or move how you like. So every game is different… just a pity that it’s so hard!!! Here’s an in-game clip of the parachuting;

Despite being so hard, the gameplay here is just so innotive and fun! The visuals are great, too.

Hitman: Blood Money – Xbox 360, Ps2

Even though this is an old game I think this deserves to be reviewed because of what it introduced – choice…

In those times, you had to follow a set route in every level, but on this game you choose what to do to get that sweet, sweet hit…

The story line shows you as a clone called Agent 47 which massacred all the other clones and set out to be what he’s good at, an assassin.

In the game you are dropped off in an area and briefed. You have one goal; kill your target by any means necicary… but you can choose how to do it! you can run about like a nutter and kill everything in the hope the police don’t shoot you down or be a proper assassin (the awards are great) and take out quietly. It also uses a system which kind of urges you to be a quiet killer because your notoriety will go up so so high till they just shoot on sight in later levels, though you could just pay to get rid of the evidence or just ignore it and buy some serious fire power!

CHEATS:

Unlock All Levels – To unlock all levels, enter Triangle, Square, Square, Right, Down, Left, R2, X, X. This only works for Ps2.

Hitman: Blood Money really is not for the gungho type and you need a lot of patience but the rest is the best gaming experience I played for quite a long time.

RATING: 70%

Dead Rising – Capcom – Xbox 360

you begin as a reporter called Frank West investigating a occurrence when you get stranded in a mall in a quarantined area with no hope of rescue for three days in a zombie infested town!

That’s how the story goes. Dead Rising plays well on the xbox 360 and can be hilariously funny as you hit the undead on the head with a toy horse, a spoon or a bottle of wine! That’s right –  almost everything in the mall can be used to wack those zombies on the noggin!

 6.jpg

The things you can do are great and you have the choice of unraveling the story, muller zombies or cower in a box for the whole game. Though the graphics are good and the game’s funny and all, it will get repetitive as you kill some zombies, help survivors or just kill the odd crazy survivor again and again. You can take photos of the undead, though!

CHEATS: Unlimited Molotov Cocktails:

Go fight the boss – Paul – but don’t kill him at the end. Instead, when he cathces fire, get the fire extinguisher from the shop and put him out. Next, Take him Back to the security room and carry on playing. After a while, you’ll get a call from Paul, so head back to the same room. He will now give you unlimited Molotov Cocktails.

Runescape – Jagex – Online

000.jpg

Runescape is a massive online multiplayer game for anyone with a computer and a lust for killing goblins. When writing this post, 131610 people were playing Runescape – WOW! But is it really that good?

The actual gameplay is brilliant – the world is amazingly huge – snowy plains, huge cities and towering castles – and that’s not including the member’s areas. The breed and amount of mosters to kill differs depending on wether your a member or not. If your new, you can fight mainly giant rats, giant spiders, goblins, snakes, and a zombie or two. If your a member, you can kill anything from a vampire to a dragon!

i tried a part of the game today that I had never tested before – Clan wars! Don’t worry – you don’t need to be a member for this, you only need a clan! Clan wars is literally a war between your clan and another. This is more fun the bigger your clan is, so get recruiting! To acsess this mode, lead your clan into the Wilderness and eventually you’ll find it (I’m sure someone will have made a detailed guide to exactly where it is! The only problem is that it can be quite hard to find a clan to fight…

A huge problem with Runescape is the amount of players. Thankfully, Jagex have solved this by adding a massive amount of different worlds – each almost the same. This means if one world is full, you can enter an almost empty one – clever!

3.jpg

Another problem is the graphics. It got the graphics of a poor Ds game. And it’s eternally dark! Let’s just hope this is solved in the near future by adding better graphics and getting some light into the dark world.

Altogether, Runescape is a good game, which needs work on the visual side, but I think to get the fun out of this game, you need to be a member. Despite this, I belive it’s one of the better online games.

REMEMBER:

Wilderness:

There are some people that try and trick you into entering the wilderness so as to kill you and take your money. DO NOT BE TRICKED!

If you are in an area of the wilderness that’s close to the border, no-one can harm you unless they are close to your level. There further you enter, the more people with higher levels are allowed to kill you. Enter at your own risk.

HINTS:

MISSIONS: Here’s a guide to complete those missions. I’m adding to the list, don’t you worry!

Pirate’s Treasure:
To complete this mission, you must first talk to Red Beard Frank, a pirate outside the bar in Port Sarim. He’ll ask you to buy him some Rum. to obtain this item, go on the ferry to Karamja and go to the bar there. There’ll be rum, but it’ll be expensive, so make sure you have money.

But here comes your problem – you can’t take it back. So, you’ll have to get a job in the bannana place near the port and fill a crate with the fruit. Then put the rum in. It’ll be smuggled off inside the crate. Next, go back to Port Sarim and enter Wydins Shop, which is on the front, near the water. you will see the crate in a back room, but it is locked away. To get to it, you’ll need to get a job there so speak to Wydin.

Once you have a job, go into the back room and take the rum, before giving it to Redbeard Frank. He’ll then tell you that the treasure is inside a chest in the upstairs room of the blue moon inn in Varrock. this is easy enough to find. When you open the chest, you’ll find the Chest empty, exept for a note, telling you to dig where a statue of Saradomin in the gardens of Falador points. When you eventually get to the right spot and begin to dig, a gardener will attack you. He is easy enough to kill if you are experienced but fairly difficult to newer players. I’d bring a good weapon, but don’t go crazy. when you’ve killed the guy, dig up the treal treasure chest and obtain some treasure, 2 quest points and the pay-fare option between the mainland and Karamja.

Restless Ghost:

This mission is very easy. Just talk to the Preist – Father Aerick, who will ask you to help him with his ghost problem. You must then find Father urhney, who lives in the swamp south of the church. make sure you have a weapon, as you will almost definetly be attacked by a giant rat or spider! when you find Urhney, he will give you an amulet that lets you talk to ghosts. this is just what you wanted and you go bach to the romb in the graveyard to try to make sense of the ghost.

The ghost speaks to you and tells you that he cannot rest until his skull has returned. So off you go again, but this time to the Wizard’s Tower. In the basement, the skull will be set on a table in one of the left rooms. take it quick because a skeleton emerges a second later.  Kill it and get back to the ghost. Place the skull in the coffin and the ghost will thank you – another mission complete.

Sheep Shearer:

This mission is by far the easiest. Just go up to the farm north of Lumbridge, and speak to the farmer. he will ask you to shear some sheep and bring him 20 balls of wool.

Firstly, you need some shearers. there are some on the table in the farm house if you don’t yet have any. Next, go into the field. You will notice there is lots of sheep, and the occasional ram. go up to as many sheep and shear them as you can. Do not shear a ram, as it will attack you – bad for beginners with litttle attack.

Next, go back to Lumbridge castle and go to the second floor. in on of the main rooms, there will be a spinning weel. go up to it and click. tell it to make some balls of wool from what you’ve collected. Go back to the farmer when you think you’ve got twenty balls of the wool. he will pay you a small amount and you’ll get a quest point. Hurrah!

RATING: 79%

With a bit more work to the graphics, and a few more missions, this alright game could be brilliant!

Worms: Open Warfare 2- Team 17 – Ds, Psp

So, we’ve all heard of the classic game ‘Worms’, and most Ds and Psp owners will know that this is the sequel to Worms: Open Warefare, but what’s so different?

1303640545_dbd31e7139.jpg

Well, for a start, It’s on the Psp and Ds, giving you twice the homicidal worm fun. On the Psp, the picture is clear and crisp and controls well. On the other hand, the Ds has the touch screen and controls Really well! It also has some fun puzzles, but nothing special.

The best thing about Worms: Open Warfare 2 is the customising. You can make your worm wear anything from a pirate hat to a space helmet, and you can even create your own areas! There are also 11 new and improved weapons, including the Electromagnet, Bunker Buster and Buffalo of Lies…

There are even new scenes to look forward to. Have your worms fight in famous war scenes like WW1, WW2, The Spanish Armada, and even Space! But some things are still the same. Like the addictive gameplay, and the funny words the worms blurt out in a squeaky voice.

1303627371_83057bcb3b.jpg

Overall, the Ds version is slightly crusty compared to the Psp’s, but this game is definitely worth having if you’ve played the original games and want more.

RATING: 75%

If you’ve played this, try Worms: Open warfare on Ds and Psp

Electroplankton – Ds

Ever played Electroplankton on the Ds… Don’t waste your time.

4277156840.jpg

Electroplankton is basically a microscopic eco-system that loves to make music by running about frantically, jumping onto bushes like kamikaze… plankton, or spinning.

This may seem quite a simple and nice game. But you’re wrong. For a start, not all of the music created by the plankton is lovely and relaxing. I absolotly had the noises that the Hanenbow and Tracy make. To add to the displeasure, once you’ve created a masterpiece, THERE’S NO WAY OF SAVING IT!!!! Anyway, who’d want to spend £19.99 on a game that has ten levels which are all based around music making plankton?!

On the other hand, the Beatnes play a very good Super Mario tune and the idea of recording your voice and hearing it come out of a miniture fish’s mouth to a hip hop beat is pretty cool. But that’s all that’s cool.

2931865674.jpg

Oh, There’s also a listening mode, where you listen to the game  as it shows you how you should play. It’s not THAT good, unless you’re on a long journey and have nother better to listen too.

Okay, so this game isn’t as bad as Crazy Frog Racing ( see my review for that further down the page) but isn’t as amazing as Animal Crossing: Wild World.  Trust me – keep your distance.

RATING: 29%

If you liked this, try buying a proper game!

Worms: Open Warefare – Team 17 – Ds, Psp

Over a decade on, homicidal worms ( that could well be under the influence of alchohol and/ or drugs) are trying to blow each other up by any means possible. And now they’re on the DS!

Okay, so everyone knows about Worms, thanks to the classic Pc games, but is this one just as mind-blowing?

After vigorous testing – I.e – obliterating everything the game threw at me and completely thrashing anyone with a Ds ( thanks to Ds wireless download play), I rated this game… Ok. This is why.

Firstly, there  aren’t many modes of play – just quick game, create game ( which are almost identical, except you get to choose who you play as and where in create game mode), challenges, and multi player. If you are new to the worms games, I’d have a go at the challenges mode – it’s simply three tutorials followed by 20 challenges, getting harder as they go. To get the hardest possible game, I’d just use the multi player mode. This way, you can play up to three friends.

The Quick game mode is literally a simplified version of Create game. In fact it’s the same but without the choosing of teams and areas. WHAT’S THE POINT OF THAT!!!!

I think the fact that there is only 7 different areas to choose from ( Arctic, Jungle, Hawaiian, Hell, London, and Space) is a let down. Fortunately, on Create game mode you can choose what this area  looks like… well, say it comes up as space, but it only has two bumps, you can regenerate it by pressing a button. This may make it bumpier, or flatter…

Overall, this game is a bit of a let down for the single player modes, but when it comes to multi player – this is the game!

RATING: 64%

If you liked this game, try Worms: Open Warfare 2 – Ds, or Age of empires – Pc/DS

Sonic Rush Adventure – Sega – Ds

After  some long years of unspoken understanding that if a Sonic game is going to be rubbish they would put “Adventure” in the name, whack a few jet-skis in it or make half of it 3D, Sonic Team has betrayed us all with  Sonic Rush’s sequel – a damn fine DS game that does all of the above and still gives you more! So where did it all go right?

Sonic Rush Adventure is the brilliant sequel to Sonic Rush. It tells the tale of Sonic and Tails – his sidekick – being washed up on an island that they must help save from the evil pirate named Whisker.

This is a lot different than Sonic Rush but not in a bad way. In fact, unlike many games, where the extra missions and unlockables ruin the fun, they actually create more of it. As well as the usual missions like ‘complete the boss within the time limit’ you can also search around the amazingly large ocean for hidden island bonus rounds or Johnny, a speed demon bent on not being beaten. only when you have raced him and won can you get any of the chaos emeralds you need to complete the game.

The adventure mode is very simple, and the bosses can be switched to be easy or normal difficulty. I personally think that it maybe is all too easy.  But this is Ok because it is countered by the really hard missions that you unlock near the end of the game. Getting the most out of Sonic’s sprawling, complicated levels was always tricky because, certainly on the first visit, you often missed things due to slow reactions. But with Tails on the hunt for lots of materials, there’s often good cause to return to levels you’ve already finished, and they keep on giving – for instance, you may have missed falling into a minecart and wizzing round a dark, underground maze the first time round!

The graphics are awesome here – you really see the difference between this game and the previous Sonics. When you run around the Ghost Pendulum boss to escape it’s attacks and see every angle of it, it just shows how much work was put into the making of this game.

CHEATS:

HIDDEN ISLANDS:

The world of Sonic Rush Adventure is made up of small islands. When you set sail with any vehicle, the islands that you can sail from will have an orange dot. Most Hidden Islands won’t have an orange dot, but Hidden Island 16 does. You can use any of the four vehicles to explore but they have different ranges and can traverse different areas. Once you’ve gone to an island, you can revisit it at any time by going to the Y-Menu and selecting “Sea Chart.”

I have put together a full map of all locations and emerald races for your reference. Please click on it to enlarge as much as you want:

sonic-rush-adventure.jpg

HOW TO BEAT THOSE BOSSES: The bosses are easy once you know how to beat them. Remember to collect as many rings before they attack you, or you’ll die the first time your hit.  here’s a short guide on how to do just that.

Ghost Rex:

* Run left and bright constantly until he drops his head, then smash it in. * When he smashes the ground in and you fall, don’t worry. After the fall do the same thing, but beware – his neck will be longer.* Be prepared for when it charges from the side – just attack it’s head again. Ghost Pendulum:

* All you have to do in this boss is to hit the pendulums so they smash the boss’ head. The blue one is the lightest and usually only needs one push, whilst the Yellow one may need two, and the largte red one needs three pushes.

The pendulums all grow spikes at one point. these will kill you if you touch them.

* The boss’ base often drops off, sending out shockwaves that can kill you.

* A random spikey bug sometimes (but not always) appears. it you stand on it, it will kill you.

Ghost Krakken:

* To kill this boss, you will need to hit the glowing green tentacle as many times as possible.

* Dodge the tentacles that don’t grow green – if you can’t do this, hitting them on the top also works.

* When it sqirts three pools of ink, do not get caught up in them, as a second afterwards it squashes these pools.

* When the Krakken pulls you underwater, do not fear – you will rise back up before you drown. Just concentrate on the tentacles.

Ghost Pirate:

* To beat the Ghost Pirate, just dodge it’s sord and fire beams until it’s back’s turned. then smash it’s red glowing stomache out. it will fly the the crow’s nest, which you can reach by swinging on the ropes . when up there continue attacking it. But the pirate will follow you.

* If you hit the pirate enough times, it will fall to  pile of bones for a while.

* Continue doing this until the stomache begins to float about aimlessly – hit it when it comes towards you and the pirate dies.

Ghost Whale:

To destroy this boss just wait until it tries to eat you and the iceberg you begin on, and jump into it’s mouth. You’ll end up inside the whale.

* When inside the whale, run along until you reach a red button, hit it and the whale gets hurt and squirts you out. Do this repeatedly, ut beware of;

* Falling stalegmites;

* moving bombs (you can use these as steps if you don’t touch their front);

* Small bombs – these reset the timer inside the whale;

* Small fish that jump at you.

Ghost Condor:

To kill this boss simply run forwards, dodging red bombs, but jumping on green ones. this allow you to get high enough to hit the boss.

* After hitting ther boss, try and land on the platforms on eirther side of it. this means you have more of a chance to hit it again as you’ll be closer.

* When you are on the platforms for a while, the boss fires missiles at you.

* the platforms sometimes fall to the ground and grow spikes – dodge this

* towards defeating it, the boss will fall to earth, and runs at you. To stop being hit by this,  stay in the middle wqhilst he;s waiting and zip to one siode when he;s halfway through charging at you.

Whisker And Johnny:

At the and of the Pirate Island levels, Whisker and Johnny team up to stop Sonic. To stop them;

* Focus on stopping Johnny first. when he bows his head, he is about to launch himself at you. it is a good idea to hit him then.

* Whisker is slightly harder. when he raises his arms, he is about to breath fire. try and dodge that. When he jumps in the air, you should jump too, as he will send out killer shockwaves when he lands.

* Look out for when Whisker throws johnny or blasts his rocket arms at you – you can only dodge these attacks.

* A blade will slice through the platforms one by one starting with the bottom. always be one platform ahead.

Ghost Titan:

This boss is the most complex and needs the most concentration.

*To complete it, just dodge it’s attacks until it destroys the forcefeild around the cannon that will be situated to one side of you. after stopping that attacking you as well, jump in and wait until the two circles on the top screen align. Then press A. you will be blasted at the Titan. The more aim you had when firing the more impact it will have on the boss.

But the Titan isn’t the last boss -there is yet another at the very end of the game! To unlock it, you must find every Sol and Chaos Emerald. These can be obtained by completing some special missions and beating Johnny a few times. I won’t say any more though…

Overall, I know this is definitely the best sonic game EVER! The grahics are brilliant, the gameplay is short but fun, and the missions are longlasting!

Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber – Nintendo – Ds

We all remember those games where you run and throw barrels as an ape with a tie. Well, meet Donkey Kong now – he and his friends Diddy, Funky and Cranky are back in an all action game for the Ds.

                                                           38642.jpg

But there’s a few tweaks this time round – You can now team up with Diddy Kong, who will reach high up platforms when you lob him, whirls a hammer around, smashing everything in his way and holds a map in one level so you don’t get lost! You can take on up to three friends in multiplayer mode, plus players can now climb even higher with the simple game controls. But are the controls too simple?

Multiplayer mode seems okay at first, riding flying bongos and having climbing races, until it begins to repeat itself. in fact, it dosn’t even let you chose which course you want to play!

The minigames are not like that of ‘New Super Mario Bros’. with only six games to chose from, this also begins to get repetitive after you’ve unlocked the four difficulty levels on each.

A good idea Nintendo had whilst making the game was to include a cheats section in the game, so when you have collected a certain amount of DK Coins, you can raise the speed of Diddy’s hammer spinning, or have extra lives after game over.

I enjoyed the actual platform game – if it wasn’t encrusted with bad multiplayer modes and crude minigames I belive this would be one of my favourites of this year!  – mabe this game is more suited to the younger gamers…

Burnout Legends – Criterion – Ds, PsP

box-l1.jpg

We all know about the Burnout games, where not only do you race in legendary cars, but you get to crash them too! Watch and laugh as your favourite hot rod smashes into smithreens on the side of a bus, only to come back perfect in a few clicks time! Unfortunately, Burnout Legends on Ds is not so crash-tastic.

For instance, the crashes have hardly any cars to smash into, which dosn’t complement the fact that you must destroy at least four cars before you receive a Crashbreaker. The poor graphics (which can’t really be helped) don’t act in the game’s favor either.

The racing is pretty nice, though. Speed through tracks from the previous Burnout games ( Burnout, Burnout 2: Point Of Impact, and Burnout 3: Takedown) in over 60 different cars including the euro racer, gangster boss, and my fav, the sports cop!

ds_burnout.jpg

The pursuit mode sees you racing against the clock to takedown a car whilst driving a cool cop car – the best bit about that is that you even get to have a siren going!!!

The multiplayer options to this game are good, with Wifi champinships and Ds download play. Sadly, this could never  live up to the Mario Kart standard.

CHEATS:

Mirror Tracks – To play on a mirror track in Single Player mode, unlock all Legend Face Off cars.

Unlock Firetruck – get gold in all Crash events.

Unlock Cop Racer – Get gold in all Persuit events.

Unlock Gangster Boss – get gold in all races!

Unlock Ultimate Coupe – Get all Signature Takedowns!!

Unlock Euro Racer – Collect all Postcards.

Unlock Classic Hot Rod – Collect all Takedown Trophies.

Unlock Us Racer – Get gold in the Super GP.

Unlock World Racer – Get gold in the Special GP.

Overall, Burnout Legends is a nice game, but EA could have worked more on the crash section. Maybe Burnout Legends was a burmout too far…

If you liked this game, try the other Burnout games, which are on most consoles, or Need For Speed: Carbon.

Drawn To Life – THQ – Ds

images.jpg

This is the latest ‘Create your own hero game’ where you have to save the cat-like creatures called Raposas from certain death. Using your stylus, wipe the goo from an area before  the bad guys appear!

But with a measly 16 levels this game is not going to last forever. In fact, it didn’t last me even a day!

The best bit of this game is the fact that you can create your own hero, sled, submarine and more! But the flaw here is that it all has to fit in a stencil, so it’s practically just filling in the shapes.

RATING: 35%

If you enjoyed this game, you will love Kirby: Power Paintbrush.

Flipper Critters – Conspiracy Ent. – Ds

Join Monkey and Tiger as they embark on a quest to save Bull from… a cold. Travel over towns, rivers, castles and the moon as you try to save the day!

flipper_critters_picture_02_s.jpg

This game is basically a pinball machine with a twist. The innotive ways of getting to the next level are clever, yet frustrating, and you will not be able to put this game down.

GOING PLACES:

* To get to Ylwich, destroy the columns in Aldenor . The gate will then open.

* Hit the Temple Of Light (the strange contraption in  Aldenor) on the three spinning arms to travel to Torogbad.

* To travel by submarine, fix the windmill.

Crazy Frog Racing – Mercury – Ds, Ps2

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ABOMINATION OF ALL RACING GAMES?!! If your looking for a game where you race on tracks that all look the same, and if you want to control the Annoying Thing, this is the game for you. Everyone else … well, look at another post!

01_01637_10_01_0240_0000.jpg

I have found that the version on Ps2 is slightly better than on the Ds, as it has slightly more of a variety on pretty much everything; track style, character, Etc. But even this is utter rubbish compared to Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing or Crash Tag Team Racing.

RATING: 11%

If you honestly enjoyed this game, try falling down the stairs!
