Easter Egg: Alien Language Codex

In Chapter 6, after fighting the final creature that spills the gas out, there is a dim, flashing sign just before the anti-grav area. This is a codex for some of the letters and all of the numbers in the alien language.

Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin Guide: Mission 25 – Lab Rats

Here’s another for Bluepinoy ๐Ÿ™‚

You might think that you are royally screwed for this mission, but you aren’t so in the first round, what you want to do is to destroy all the missiles. That is the most important thing, the next important thing is that the Mech CAPTURE THE AIRPORT IS IT NEAR AT ALL COSTS. You need to destroy all the missiles, regardless because it is important for what happens next. The first one will require your Duster to hit it for two, and then some more luck for being killed by the Medium Tank. That needs to happen, otherwise, you are going to be facing a big problem.

After the third day, reinforcements arrive. The brings a hell of a lot of units, a large amount of tanks and bombers, which you need to use to get rid of all the meteors in the area so your tanks can actually do some damage. Use all the infantry to capture all the buildings. The most important property on the map is right in the middle.

That factory in the centre of the map is the most important base that you can get and you need to capture that at all costs. This is important because this is where you are going to produce all the reinforcements that you need to win this mission. There is also another factory that you will need to get, but this one is behind plasma wall is one you want to prevent the enemy from getting. Rush out some rockets and move it to cover the Factory. That way, if they want to capture, they need to face some hostile rockets.

Now the problem is that factory itself. If the enemy manages to capture it, you need to capture it back. You need to use whatever ground forces that you can to get it back. Swarms of Megatanks sound rather good against other megatanks, provided that you have some rockets to back you up.

There is a relatively good chokepoint there, so you have the easy time of baiting the enemy units with some Rockets to take out the threats. Her air power is still a threat, so use some Missiles that you have been given and use them to cover all your troops.

You want to creep towards the enemy’s base. You want to use your tanks to move forward, and use your rockets, which should be heavily protected, and use them to creep forwards, and that will allow you to gain more and more land, which you then use rush and capture that factory. Capturing that faction will be the turning point.

From then, you will have to deal with the rest of their megatanks and the chair force. Slam them out of the sky, and you just need to keep pushing forwards, that is all you need to do. Push her, and keep harassing her units and move towards her base and capture it. You need to park her factories and take her HQ.

Never let the CO get into a unit, that is because the CO power is one of the most deadly powers that you will ever face in the game. She, in a unit, is extremely powerful, she gets at least a 60% boost to attack and defence, and that is quite a boost. You need to use a lot of firepower to take her down, and she is most likely to get into a fighter, so bring some AA units to make sure that it doesn’t get a chance to build up the CO power. Luckily, the unit doesn’t have a CO Zone when it starts out.

S RANK

Well, this is quite hard to S Rank, so you need to save often and hope for the best. You want strong powerful units, so don’t build a lot of small cheap units because that will ruin your score, as well as taking a long period of time, because that will drop your speed score. You also need to make sure the enemy gets a pounding, otherwise your power score doesn’t get a workout, but that shouldn’t be too hard. This is the second hardest mission in the game, the hardest being the last. And next. So good luck all, and I hope this helps! :):)

Frodo and co must be sick of that blasted ring… The epic story of The Lord Of The Rings, since Peter Jackson’s cinematic trilogy, has been on the recieving end of a number of videogame adaptions. We’ve been given the chance to recreate famous scenes from all the films in MMOs, RPGs, real-time strategies, action/adventures and more since 2002. But EA isn’t finished with the licence yet; The Lord Of The Rings: Conquest will allow us to experience the events at Helm’s Deep, Isengard, Moria and more yet again.

If you’ve ever played Star Wars: Battlefront then TLOTR: Conquest will feel mighty familiar. As one of four classes you can switch between (Archer, Mage Warrior and Scout) you are required to capture and hold command posts set within the well-documented Middle-earth settings. Again, like Battlefront, you’ll occasionally get to cntrol all the major heroes (BoroMir, Aragon, Gandalf and so on) for brief stints when appropriate to the story.

2668998279_a7875e985e

As well as playing as the heroes, you can also play as the motley crew of bad guys. You may look a bit ugly, but you ge tto have giant beasts on your side. In our opinion hurling small guys with your massive beasts and destroying troops in one blow is the best bit of the game. That and smashing your way through a wall of aroows to sink your sword into the enemies.

2669818860_12b440b3a3

The problem with TLOTR: Conquest is thatย  (unlike battlefront) it suffers from Dynasty Warriors syndrome. Ploughing through hordes of ident-i-Orcs with limited combat moves doesn’t offer a real challenge. That we were able to take down Sauron with a generic archer (after we got fed up using Isildur) and dispatched Saruman within the space of a minute has good as ruined any feeling of reliving some of the story’s most iconic moments. Something further reduced by the irritating voice-over man that feels the need to bark incessant instructuons every 20 seconds.

For brief bouts of hack-‘n’-slashery (as well as the chance to do a bit of Hobbit hunting playing the campaign as the bad guys) TLOTR: Conquest will help vent some anger, but it’s by no means a definitive The Lord Of The Rings Experience.ย  Despite the briefly satisfying Orc-butchery, this just doesn’t work as well as Star Wars: Battlefront.

New Smash Bros Ideas

By Kitnaz

Here’s some ideas for a new Smash Bros game…

I think it should be released on the DS & DSi as well as the Wii.

Sheik and Zero Suit Samus should be seperate characters instead of being
with Zelda and Samus.

It should include more characters, that have been in Nintendo games,
such as:
Bomberman (Bomberman)
Waluigi (Mario)
Mewtwo (Pokemon)
Pichu (Pokemon)
Roy (Fire Emblem)
Tails (Sonic)
Knuckles (Sonic)
Tiptup (Diddy Kong)
K.K. Slider (Animal Crossing)
Tom Nook (Animal Crossing)
Samurai Goroh (F-Zero)
Banjo Kazoo (Banjo Kazoo)
Spyro (Spyro)
Crash Bandicoot (Crash Bandicoot)
Cocoto (Cocoto)
Blaze (Sonic)
Krystal (Starfox)
Slippy Toad (Starfox)
Aghannim (Zelda)
Zant (Zelda)
Vaati (Zelda)
Skull Kid (Zelda)
Tingle (Zelda)
Micaiah (Fire Emblem)
Dark Matter (Kirby)
Koopa (Mario)
Porky (EarthBound)
Axel Steel (Guitar Hero)
Dry Bones (Mario Games)
Toad (Mario Games)
Roselia (Mario Games)
Any more ideas? Comment ๐Ÿ™‚
ย
Bring back all stages from Smash Bros 64 and Melee.
More options for custom stages, like elements from real stages.
How about some stages based on:
Greek Arena (Guitar Hero)
Nookingtons (Animal Crossing)
Stage 1 (Bomberman)
Pyramid Of Power (Zelda)
Planet Zebes (Metroid)
Dreamland (Kirby)
Grand Prix (F-Zero)
Escape Shaft (Metroid)
Test Stage (Smash Bros Brawl)
Dark Matter Plant (Mario)
Underground Maze (Zelda)
Home Run Stadium (Smash Bros Brawl)
Majora’s Mask (Zelda)
Bowser Castle 64 (Mario Kart)
Peach’s Castle (Mario)
Delphino Square (Mario Kart)
Battle Area (Pokemon Emerald)
Battle City (Pokemon Battle Revolution)
Hyrule Castle (Zelda)
Sector Z (Starfox)
Congo Jungle (Donkey Kong)
Misty Mine (Mario)
Twilight Zone (Zelda)
Falling Platforms (Smash Bros)
Tutorial Stage (Smash Bros)

And how about some new modes? Like a short race! ๐Ÿ™‚

How about mini games like all these pokeballs appear everywhere holding only legends and and you have to try and kill the other characters and they can fight back. The last still standing or having the least amount of damage wins. But only legends because theyโ€™re really strong.

I’ll keep you posted on new ideas ๐Ÿ˜€
Suggest some of your own?

DSI US Release Date?

Rumours suggest that the Dsi will launch in the US on the 4th of April this year. The console is expected at around $179.99 (thats about ยฃ91). Nintendo has refused to comment, nor have they confirmed the European release date. The Dsi was released in Japan in December, selling half a million units in a month.

MadWorld Preview

2969783166_b60ed7f9e8

Based around an ultra-violent television show named Death Watch, MadWorld sees the player assume the role of Jack – a particularly rough-looking fellow with a chainsaw strapped to his arm. Jack must kill or be killed in order to survive trhis twisted and gore-filled slice of daytime entertainment. It may look very grizzly, but it’s pitched with a tongue-in-cheek style and sense of humour. When we say ‘cartoon violence’, we mean just that; this may gorier than any Tom and Jerry, but it is still cartoon violence in our opinions…

2780668621_4c358b6163

Made up of some seriously talented former Capcom staff, PlatinumGames has already established quite a reputation without even having released a game. However, MadWorld is looking very special indeed, with its stylised monochrome visuals and over-the-top action-winning hordes of fans already. Lets hope the censors keep off this, so that we all get to play it.

Pikmin – Nintendo – Wii

Games often trigger bouts of deja vu. We get it every time we see the lastest instalment of Need For Speed and often when Square Enix announces a new game that just happens to be a remake of an old PS1 game…

But Nintendo is being more shameless than most with it’s latest New Play Control! series. The games it will feature aren’t really even remakes or updates; they are just games previously released for gamecube adapted to widescreen and with new Wii-specific controls.

pikmin_03

Of course, when the game in question is Pikmin, no one’s going to be disapointed with what emerges. On Wii, the game – which has you collecting up parts of your crashed ship as mini Captain Olimar – is every bit as playable as it was back on the Gamecube in 2002. More so in fact, because the Wii-controller is ideally suited for the strategy-like gameplay and for highlighting and throwing your little Pikmin helpers around the place. You highlight them by pointing at the screen, then yank them out of the ground with A.

pikmin_01

The visuals have barely changed, but they were so advanced for their time, Pikmin still stands strong graphically against some new Wii titles.

Aside from the ability to replay any of the game’s 30 days, the puzzles and challenges facing you and your multi-talented Pikmin pack remains the same. If you played the original, ยฃ30 is clearly alot of shell out on a near carbon copy. Especially if Pikmin 2 makes it onto the Wii, as it’ll be a better choice. If you missed it first time round, though, you’re in for a real treat.

Animal Crossing: City Folk – Nintendo – Wii

Written byย Kitnaz (Co-Editor),

Many people have said it, including Peanutmaster, โ€œWhat is the point of
Animal Crossing? There is nothing to do apart from talk to animals and
fish and stuff like that.โ€ Animal Crossing is about doing whatever you
want, dig up fossils, shop or just talk to people, and the new game adds
whole new elements to the Wild World of Animal Crossing.
So lets get this out of the way in case of confusion, if you have played
Animal Crossing: Population Growing for the GameCube, you should see
this as more of an update than a proper sequel. How much you enjoy it
will depend on how much you enjoyed the GameCube or DS versions, and
whether or not you are willing to completely start over on a new slate.
This review is mainly for people who are new to the world of Animal
Crossing and are thinking of buying the Wii game.

3037628882_f2a37f3f13

3048872877_f9436b1203
ย
In this game, once again you are a guy/girl who has recently moved to a
new town, after choosing a house, finishing work and meeting all your
new neighbours you have free reign to do whatever you want; go fishing,
design clothes (The Able Sisters now allow you to design the front, back
and sleeves), Catch Bugs, Buy/Sell furniture and etc, as well as many
more things. The ultimate goal for the first few months of play (if you
get it for Christmas, it will probably take you until July or August if
you play everyday) is to pay off all of your mortgages, every time you
pay off one your house will get bigger and you get a new mortgage, the
house expands similar to this; Main Room Gets Bigger, Main Room Gets
Bigger Again, Basement (Unknown whether it is in this game, I am only
100,000 bells left so ill keep you posted), Upstairs, Left Room, Right
Room, Back Room, ??? (Possibly a golden statue of you as in Population
Growing).

This game is easier to control that the GameCube, you move with the
Nunchuk, โ€œBโ€ is run/pick up item, โ€œAโ€ is to select something and the โ€œD
padโ€ controls your equipment, โ€œCโ€ and โ€œZโ€ do the same as โ€œAโ€ and โ€œBโ€.
The game will really get interesting after about a week of playing, when
you have max-population in your town, you become a member of Crazy
Reddโ€™s and the Auction House opens. After about a month you should start
to get enough money to buy things from GracieGrace, a fashion shop which
sells clothes and furniture, very good, very expensive.
You can also exchange Tom Nook points for pieces of the rare Nintendo
set of furniture/clothes, for the pieces not found sometimes in balloons.

3049263156_ba8ddaa25e
ย This strange hat is just one of the many items to collect, wear and fill your house with…

The city is a bit limited, but it has some good stuff in it. You can
find anyone who is not in your town here. Here is a list of services;
Resettiโ€™s house – Randomly opens after 8 oโ€™clock, Resetti gives you a
silver shovel.
Katrinaโ€™s Fortune Teller – Gives you a fortune, something good will
happen if you do thisโ€ฆ
Shampoodle – The hairdressers, changes your hair style or gives you a
Mii Mask.
Kicks – Changes your shoe colour/style.
Auction House – Self explanatory, the rules are a let down though. Takes
ages to do anything.
GracieGrace – Sells expensive but good furniture, changes stock every
season, half price sale at end of every month.
The HRA – Rates your house when you become a member, you can also get
Dรฉcor tips.
The Marquee – Shrunkโ€™s theatre, teaches you emotions, sometimes
Frilliard is there, Iโ€™ve never seen him but there are posters on the walks.
Crazy Reddโ€™s Black Market – Expensive stuff, changes stock every week or
when you buy everything, the only way to get a lot of furniture and ALL
paintings, WARNING: PAINTINGS CAN BE FAKES!!!

3049714618_aa4c502bb32
ย
So in conclusion this game is great, to get the most of it you need to
talk to everyone in town (Villagers plus; Brewster, Sable and Celeste)
every day, and it really gets interesting after playing for a month.

Gears Of War 2 – Xbox 360

By Peanut (to see more of his reviews, visit the mini reviews page)

This game is rather gory…

Smoke billows throughout the map as you sprint passed hails of bullets and a teammate goes down before the hammer of dawn goes off.

You get inside before the mortars go off and the rest of whats left of your team searches the place for useful defenses.suddenly a locust bursts out of nowhere and swings his lancer atย you -your now in a chainsaw duel and you desperately press theย B button to avoid dissembowlment.

Youย manage to kill the locust and another group of locusts come at you – you fire off hail of rounds then realize ur out of ammo.

This is only the multiplayer and the game is as gory as hell! kill a guy with a chainsaw andย you can see his intestines !

Even the solo campaign is impressive with its tight story and plot and also the way it improves level by level with better and bigger fights with increasingly difficult bosses (the one in the underground lake is very hard)

All together this game is fun-gory-full of explosions and has very good graphicsโ€ฆ

RATING: 96%

-fun all the way with only minor annoyances

Whats New?

It’s just gone the new year, so to celebrate 2009, Peanutmaster has been updated, and it has a few new features…

Firstly, Two new pages have been added. The first is The Pokemon Sprites Resource. This is where Pokemon Sprites can be found and used in your own blogs/webpages/avatars. This page is dedicated to Akeis.com, where I got most of the Sprites from. This page, however, is still being updated, so at the moment it lacks slightly.

The second page is actually the return of the Pokemon Diamond FAQ. This time, the FAQ includes help with getting the Legendaries, more tips, and some information on special events. A Pokemon Platinum Guide is goingย to be uploaded as soon as we can get our hands on the game.

Also, Please remember that if your questions aren’t answered, please leave a comment! We will try and help, and if we can’t, someone will!! You can also email us at peanut[dot]master[at]hotmail[dot]co[dot]uk – (when emailing, put the symbols in whereย I have put the words in brackets – I’m sure you know this, but hopefully spybots dont).

Making Money On Animal Crossing: City Folk

So, you can’t seem to make any kind of profit On Animal Crossing? Your mortgage is unbelievably unpayable? Nook’s prices are driving you insane? Don’t worry; we’ve all been there. Here’s a simple guide to making moohlah in Animal Crossing.

1) Each tool found at Nook’s can make you tons of money…
Use the net and fishing rod to catch different kinds of bugs and fish to sell. Although bug catching makes a LOT more money in the summer, there’s always fishing still! This is mainly how I make my money at the moment!

2)There’s three new fossils or gyroids to dig up in your town every day, with most of them selling for 5,000 bells or more. They are worth the searching for.ย

3) Also, every day there’s a certain rock that you can hit for money. Dig holes behind your character so you don’t have to run forward when you slide backwards from hitting the rock. You can make up to 8,100 bells very quickly this way. If you want a video or pictures, just look up “Animal Crossing City Folk money rock”. Tons of websites come up.

4) And if you have a slingshot, you can shoot items down from the sky and sell anything you don’t want or need. You cna get some nice stuff doing this, but things fly by quickly, so you need to be prepared to shoot them down!

5) Native fruits (that grow in your town naturally) sell for 100 bells each, so going around and gathering fruit isn’t a bad idea, and not hard either. Or, if you have a different fruit from a friend’s town or something, you can sell it for a quick 500 bells. OR, if you plant it, you will have 1,500 bells in a few days from the three fruits that grow on it. Sometimes, trees dont grow in certain places, so use an axe to cut down a blank tree and plant your fruit where it was. Plant more fruit trees for more money, and sell the fruits every three days once they grow back. Or, you can shake the trees without fruit on them! Sometimes random pieces of furniture or bags of money fall out. But watch out for bees!! Or, you could just catch those too, for more money!!! …This can end up nasty though.

3205843950_ee0a53aecd

6) If you go down to the beach about every half hour, it will be full of shells again! So what do you do with all these shells?? Sell them! Although a single shell isn’t worth much, (30 to 1,200 bells) a whole beach of them REALLY adds up, especially if you wait more than half an hour to gather them. Every few days there will be a few items in the recycling bin, and the lost and found in the town gate that you can claim and sell.

7) You can try the stalk market (buying turnips from Joan and selling them for more bells to Nook) once you have some money to invest, also. There’s tons of guides to help you with that too, since I’m not an expert, and I usually end up losing alot from that….

…Well, that’s how I make my money!! Have fun making some of your own moohlah!

Pokemon Of The Week – Rotom

300px-rotom_forms

Rotom is a dual-type Electric/Ghost Pokรฉmon. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokรฉmon. However, as of Pokรฉmon Platinum, it can change forms.

Rotom’s basic body looks similar to Castform, but Rotom has no real relation to any other species, since it doesn’t have any evolutions or pre-evolutions. Rotom has a body of plasma. It also has teeth, which are often seen. Rotom also have unique eyes that have a dividing line across them.

Even though Rotom is classified as being an Electric/Ghost type, it possesses traits that aren’t usually normal for something that’s supposed to be spirit, such as the need to eat, being able to faint and somehow reproducing. Rotom themselves are shaped like lightning rods, while the blue aura of electricity around them takes the appearance of lightning.

In Pokรฉmon Platinum, Rotom also has five extra forms (each based on a household appliance), which can be transformed between using an event-exclusive item called the Secret Key. They are based on a refrigerator (Frost Rotom), washing machine (Wash Rotom), fan (Spin Rotom), lawn mower (Cut Rotom), and a toaster oven (Heat Rotom). Despite having visual characteristics of other types (Ice, Water, Flying, Grass and Fire, respectively), they share the original Rotom’s Electric and Ghost types. Rotom’s eyes and aura of electricity will change colors when it changes forme. In contrast, their base stats are far higher than those of the original Rotom, to the point of being analogous to evolutions.

200px-rotom_card_art

In Diamond/ Pearl, Rotom can only be obtained through the Old Chateau, the haunted mansion in Eterna Forest. You must go there after getting the National Dex. There, you will find the Eterna Gym Leader, who will tell you that she’s too scared to go in. If you do enter, you will fing Rotom inside a Tv in the room that is second to the left on the seocond floor.ย Rotom will only come out of the Tv betweenย 22:00 andย 04:00, though.ย Rotom is the only Pokemon in Generation IV that is not classified as a Legendary, yet still has legendary music. There is only one in the game, also just like a legendary.ย ย

ย Rotom can creep into machines and appliances and infiltrate them. It may also possess and take the form of them if it wishes. However, only 5 alternate forms have been discovered so far.

180px-rotom_and_its_items

Rotom are mischievous, apparently wreaking havoc on electrical appliances just for the fun of it. They usually live in electrical appliances, sometimes in those of abandoned places. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, a Rotom resides inside a TV, where the player is able to catch it after obtaining the National Pokรฉdex.

ย In the anime Rotom appeared in DP105 in its six different forms, terrorizing Ash and company.

42 All-Time Classics (Clubhouse Games) – Nintendo – Ds

256px-clubhousegameslogo

Board games once gave the same amount of pleasure as Mario and Sonic do. Now, they give the same amount of pleasure as a dead mouse. So you would expect 42 All-Time Classics to be a complete flop, being as it is mainly built up of some board games, classic card games and dominoes.

But for some reason, this isn’t so. In fact, 42 All-Time Classics (or Clubhouse Games in America) ย is very clever. This is because it’s the first game that has proved to me that cards and board games can be great, and fun!

As well as the Chess, Backgammon, Ludo, Dominoes, and various card games, there is also some more exciting games like Bowling, Darts, and Balanace, where you have to drop blocks onto a carefully balanced plank, without making it all fall. Multiplayer mode lets you share the fun by pwning your friends and family. Some games are even online!

So, with a huge variety of card, board and action games, this is the ultimate classic game compilation!

Advance Wars: Days Of Ruin – Mission 23: Sacrificial Lamb

This one’s for Bluepinoy –

Moreso than most other missions, this one’s all about surviving the first five days or so. If you can get through them without taking a huge amount of damage, especially to your fleet, then you should be able to cruise your way to an easy victory. This is easier said than done, though, and I don’t blame you, Bluepinoy, for not being able to complete this one.

The enemy has a lot of territory to work with, but their factories are blocked off from most of it thanks to meteors, which they seem to not want to destroy. Thus, the only reinforcements they can get to the bulk of their landmass is infantry. Your ultimate goal here is not to storm the beaches, though; you should attempt to skirt around the southeastern corner of the map, land your troops near the dock there, and strike from there towards the enemy HQ.

The trouble here revolves around the fact that you’re going to be taking bomb hits from the Giant Owl on days three, four, and five. These bombs are dropped on your largest and most expensive collection of units. What you want to avoid here is having any naval units get hit by the bombs, but luckily that’s avoidable.

ย

Day One

ย

The northern lander here has a mech unit and an anti-tank unit on it; drop it on the northwestern island so that the anti-tank unit can fire on the meteor there on day two, and the mech unit can capture something starting on the same turn. The eastern landers here (with a tank, w-tank, and a couple of mech/infantry units on them) should begin heading to the southeastern island. One of them will be able to get close enough to drop off the mech unit, which can likewise begin capturing a property on day two.

You need to split up your battleships here. Move the easternmost one to the southeast a bit, while the western one moves north a bit and plunks the gunship there with its bombs. Finish the gunship off with a carrier, and spread the rest of your naval forces out a bit as well. The Giant Owl’s bomb will have a three square radius of effect, just like it did last turn.

At the northern dock and factory, build a gunship and an infantry unit. You’ll be able to use the gunship to drop the infantry unit off on the northern island next turn, and the gunship will make a handy blockade of the channel there, alongside your lander, to prevent enemy submarines from coming down. You may also want to build a gunship on the eastern dock, since you can afford it, and it’ll come in handy for weakening the enemy gunship or cruiser on that side of the map.

Apart from that, consolidate your w-tanks and infantry units near your headquarters. Park the w-tanks on buildings and make sure all the units there are tightly packed together to give the Giant Owl a nice little bullseye.

ย

Day Two

ย

Make a quicksave at the beginning of this turn; in a lot of ways it will be the most important turn for you. You have to position your units such that the important units, specifically the battleships, aren’t targeted by the Giant Owl when it comes down.

Begin by starting to capture properties on the northwestern and southeastern islands. You’ll need to land a bunch of units on the southeastern island here, both to capture the two cities there and also to block the enemy landers that will be coming this way from dropping any other units off. If you park a tank and a w-tank on the coastline, they and the landers should be able to block off any enemy landers that attempt to approach, causing them to head for your mainland, where they can be easily destroyed before disgorging their contents.

At the end of the day, you need to ensure that your battleships are fairly isolated, away from your carriers especially, since those will make high-value targets. Again, if you have two w-tanks and three infantry units clustered in your base, that should be enough to draw the Giant Owl’s fire, which is fine. If the Giant Owl is consistently aiming for your ships, then you may need to build a set of rockets or another w-tank back near your HQ to shift its fire. You want the Giant Owl to bomb these units since you won’t be using them for a while, and you’ll have plenty of time to repair them before using them for an attack.

ย

Day Three

ย

If one of your battleships was hit by the Giant Owl, you should probably go ahead and reload your quicksave and try things again until you manage to get the Giant Owl to attack your tanks. If you can manage to get the bombs to drop on the right place, then this should be a fairly simple turn: just avoid moving your units around too much (you want the bombs to drop in the same place next turn as well) while destroying any enemy units that threaten you and continuing to capture cities that you’ve reached.

Try to block off the northern passageway from the enemy docks on this turn with your gunship and lander. They will have a submarine coming for your battleship at this point, so you want to intercept it if at all possible. Otherwise, try to position your battleship south of the rough seas with the gunship and lander in a position to block it from being attacked. If you have a cruiser in the area, it should be able to make a strike at the submarine from a distance away on the next turn.

ย

Day Four

ย

Another holding pattern day. Continue capturing and shelling any units that come into range of your battleships, but ignore the rockets for now. You can fire on a rocket unit, but they’ll be able to fire back on their turn, and your goal is to keep your battleships at full health here.

ย

Day Five

ย

This is the last day of bombing, so after absorbing the blow here, you’ll be able to start actually doing stuff. Exciting! At this point, if you’ve survived with your battleships and cruisers mostly intact, you should be able to start shutting down the enemy navy. For whatever reason, they seem intent on making units only at their northern docks, which makes it a bit easier to set up a blockade consisting of a couple of cruisers and a battleship, with perhaps a carrier up there to provide support against any battleships that might appear and also attack the enemies on the mainland.

ย

The Buildup

ย

Luckily for you, battleships in the water will keep the enemy rockets back towards the center of the enemy landmass, allowing you to move around in the water with a fair amount of independence. When you have the northern passage blocked off with cruisers and any remaining unused landers, you can start building extra battleships. Keep the cities on the coast uncaptured by the enemy to keep your economic edge, but don’t risk taking out the rockets directly.

If you want to take out the rockets, feel free to pound them with missiles from the corners of the map. Apart from them, your threats include a possible landing attempt by a CO-powered w-tank that comes from the northern dock. Leave a gap in your blockade to allow it through, then pound it.

Build extra temporary docks on your main island to resupply the battleships there, as well as on the southeastern island to support the invasion fleet. When you’re ready to go, start making landers and load them up with w-tanks, mid-tanks, and a few infantry units for good measure. Start crawling up the eastern side of the map, with battleships and cruisers leading the charge, and kill anything that looks at you funny.

You won’t have a lot of beach space to unload your troops, so start with your tanks and charge into the enemy rockets to weaken up the troops, following with seaplanes if you have them. When you’re able to do so, land your infantry on the beach and head to the HQ. Capturing it will end the map.

I hope this helps, and if it didn’t, sorry. Keep battlign and you’ll get there! (by the way, it took me a while to complete the mission too…)

Wii Sports Resort – Nintendo – Wii

If you watched this year’s E3 Nintendo Conference (and if you haven’t, it’s not to late for a giggle), then Wii Sports Resort will be high up on Wii-owner’s wish lists for a number of reasons. Most importantly because it will be the first game to showcase Nintendo’s enhanced pointing peripheral the MotionPlus. The extra precision provided by it will be used for a variety of cheery minigames, including Jet-Skiing (called Power Cruising), Frisbee ( aka Disc Dog) and Kendo (known as Sword Play) to replicate your movement accurately.

Wii Sports was a deserving hit with gamers of al ages. But it didn’t provide long-lasting entertainment once you had sampled all of the minigames. We’eve yet to see the full line-up of activities but we’re holding out for some greater substance and Balance Board connectivity.

So far, we rate this:

RATING: 70%

But I guess we’ll have to wait until it is released this spring for any more information.
