Pokemon Of The Week – Dialga

Dialga  is a dual-type Steel/Dragon legendary Pokémon. It is Nat. Dex number #483. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Dialga is the mascot of Pokémon Diamond Version, appearing on the boxart. In that version you find Dialga atop Mount Coronet, after beating the Team Galactic Boss and getting the Master Ball.

dialga1

Dialga is dinosaur-like, similar to Palkia, though it seems to be based off of a sauropod. It is mainly dark blue with some gray metallic portions, such as its chestplate, which has a diamond in the center. It also has various light blue spots. It has a somewhat wing-like structure on its back, and a crest on its head, resembling a type of dinosaur. Dialga also has long claws and a short tail.

Dialga has the ability to warp time by either speeding it up, slowing it down, or stopping it altogether. Similar to most other Dragon-types, Dialga is capable of wielding various elemental attacks (except for Water attacks). Dialga can also utilize several Ground- Rock- and Steel-type moves. It is one of the few Pokémon that can use Aura Sphere. Dialga’s powers can be amplified by the Adamant Orb. Dialga is the only known Pokémon that learns Roar of Time (apart from an event Darkrai released for the tenth movie in Japan, the Toys “R” Us and Nintendo World Store Darkrai, and Smeargle which can Sketch the move).

Being that Dialga, like Palkia, primarily resides in a different dimension, its behavior is nearly impossible to study. Dialga lives in another dimension, and can only be summoned to the main Pokémon universe by using the Red Chain. This is what  the Team Galactic Boss uses to bring it to him atop Mount Coronet.

in the anime Dialga appears in the tenth movie of the Pokémon anime along with Palkia. It fights with Palkia and Darkrai, nearly destroying Alamos Town. Dialga’s statue appeared with its silhouette in A Secret Sphere of Influence!. Dialga’s statue also appeared in DP110 and DP111. Dialga also makes a cameo in the Together and Diamond and Pearl openings.

Guitar Hero: On Tour – Activision – Ds

Guitar Hero has swept the gaming world and become one of the biggest games around. And despite this, the concept is so simple; a fake guitar with a few buttons in-planted along with some rocking tunes to play. But is it so simple that a good Ds version could be made?

My answer – yes. On Tour is a great game spawned from the original Guitar Hero concept and pushed into the Ds. The buttons that are usually on the guitar are now on a ‘grip’ that fits into the gameboy cartridge slot and you strum each not with a special Ds stylus, shaped like a guitar plectrum.

2741627872_9abe2795eb1

The songs are the same, rocking tunes that are the norm to Guitar Hero.  From classics like All Star by Smash Mouth to some Nirvana and even (a personal favourite) Stray Cat Strut. There’s also the incredibly hard Ozzy Osbourne’s I Don’t Wanna Stop. The songs are all brilliant, and live up to the standard the previous Guitar Hero games have set.

There is also a battle mode, where you battle againt another guitarist to try and rock the most. You use battle items to help you win – these include a fan wanting their shirt sighend by your opponent and an amp overload.

2741627976_1f95470993

But, the problem is, On Tour doesn’t add much to the Guitar Hero name, apart from the concept of it being on the Ds. Guitar Hero was already great, and sadly, this game hasn’t altered that.

RATING: 79%

A must have game that isn’t as well designed for the Ds as say, ELite Beat Agents, but is still great.

Pokemon Of The Week – Deoxys

140px-deoxysforme

Deoxys is a Psychic-type legendary Pokémon. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon. However, Deoxys has four different forms. In Generation III, its form depends on what game is being played. In Generation IV, its form can be changed at will in Veilstone City.

Deoxys is the last Pokémon in the Hoenn Dex and National Pokédex within Generation III.

The shape of Deoxys is based on a strand of DNA.

Deoxys has four forms, each with different appearance. The main things that are constant for all four forms is that Deoxys’s dominant color is orange with a bluish-green face that has a purple stripe where a nose would be and white circular eyes and the crystalline organ in its chest:

The Normal Forme has skinny legs that come to a point. The upper-legs have a single blue stripe that goes down to the knees. Deoxys can sometimes have bluish-green arms with five-fingered hands and a red “Y” shape that runs down the arms’ entire length. It has an orange skin that covers it except for its abdomen. It also been seen with two cord-like tentacles (one red and one blue) in place of the arms. Deoxys also has two trapezoid-shaped “ears”.

deoxys_norm

The Attack Forme has basically the same leg-shape as the Normal Forme, but the stripes run down for mostly all of the legs’ length and Deoxys has a spike on each of its knees. Deoxys has a pair of tentacles that come to a point were its arms would be and cannot be twisted. Deoxys has triangle-shaped “ears” and a single spike on top of its head. Most of the orange “skin” has disappeared.

deoxys_attk

The Defense Forme has wide legs that are somewhat flat at the end and have a bluish-green spot on each of the knees. Deoxys has flat, broad tentacles that also can’t be twisted and Deoxys’ head has been fused with its body. Its “skin” has thickened and covered all of its body parts for greater defense.

deoxys_def

The Speed Forme has gray, skinny legs and a gray body. Deoxys only has one tentacle on each side of its body. The back of Deoxys’s head is elongated and comes to a point. It has also lost most of its orange “skin,” allowing for better aerodynamics and faster movement.  Deoxys is a genderless species.

Deoxys mostly has the same abilities as Mewtwo and the aforementioned ability to change its appearance to suit whatever situation it may be in during battle. Destiny Deoxys shows a Deoxys creating duplicates of itself to help achieve its objective.  Deoxys tend to keep to themselves, but befriend humans they trust.

Deoxys was a virus resting in a stray meteor, and while it flew through the atmosphere, the virus mutated into the first known Deoxys.

220px-deoxys

In the Anime Deoxys first appeared in Destiny Deoxys. One with a green crystalline organ fell to earth in a meteorite. A second Deoxys (with a purple crystalline organ) came to LaRousse City to search for it but ended up in an epic battle with Rayquaza. As Pokémon Emerald had not been released when the movie was produced, only its Defense, Normal and Attack Formes appeared.

Deoxys also appeared in the special episode Pokémon Ranger – Deoxys Crisis!. This is where Deoxys’s Speed Forme debuted.

A Deoxys appeared in DP112 in all of its formes.

The Star Wars Galaxy

Here’s a map of the Star Wars Galaxy. It was made a few years back, so I don’t think it includes all the latest planets to be named, although Nar Shadaa and Felucia, from the new Force Unleashed game are there.

If you want to zoom in, here’s a link to the page I found it on, so you can:

Peanutmaster’s Friend Codes

I have been asked what my friend code is for a few games recently, for games like Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and Mariokart Ds.

So here is my Friend code for MarioKart Ds:

279352035402

I usually use Luigi in the Poultergust 4000, and I think I am best at either Wario Stadium or Delfino Square. I am worst at Yoshi Falls and Rainbow Ride.

If anyone wants to race me, I’m ready! Why not try and beat me? Just tell me your friend code!

My friend codes for other games will be added here soon!

Ninokuni: The Another World

Ghilbi makes its gaming debut!

The Professor Layton games have turned Japanese developer Level-5 into a powerful force in the gaming industry and its latest project is possibly the biggest to date.

Not content with the sterling work done by animation studio Production IG on Layton and its  two sequels, the developer has turned to legendary anime house Studio Ghibli to work on the strangely titled Ninokuni: The Another World (expect a new title for the inevitable european release). The game involves a young teenager who discovers a mysterious book which takes him to a parrellel reality, shortly after the death of his mother.

The book is actually provided as part of a special package with the game. It pages various tips andother useful information, while also listing a series of stylus moves to execute the game’s various different spells. A japanese Harry Potter perhaps? Could be, but we expect something a little deeper than just a movie tie-in, especially after the quality of Level-5’s output so far.

We have heard rumours of this coming out around November of this year, but we know one thing for sure – we will hear more about this later in the year.

Pokemon Of The Week – Diglett

050diglett

This week’s Featured Pokemon is the mole pokemon – Diglett:

Diglett (Japanese: ディグダ Digda) is a Ground-type Pokémon. It evolves into Dugtrio starting at level 26.  It is National Dex number #50. This tiny brown Pokémon’s most famous feature is that it seems to be perpetually buried within the earth, usually having only its head visible. Another one of it’s most distinguishing characteristics is its big red nose.

What Diglett looks like underground is a big mystery, which has sparked many fan interpretations over the years. The only thing known is that they have feet, as mentioned in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, although not even its friend Magnemite knew this until Diglett mentioned its feet.  They dig underground quickly, and can cause small tremors. Diglett live in tunnels and caves under the earth. They also sometimes live in burrows near forests where they maintain the soil. Diglett are frequently kept on farms to till the land. Diglett may also eat dirt, as some ground-dwelling creatures do.

In the anime, Diglett first appeared in Dig Those Diglett. These Mole Pokémon were causing trouble for a construction crew that planning on building a dam. The foreman insisted that the Diglett were to be exterminated, but the Pokémon of the trainers that happened to be in the area refused to fight them. The reason was that the Diglett and Dugtrio were helping to plant trees in the forest.

180px-diglett_anime

Diglett were also used by a man named Poncho in The Underground Round-Up. He used them to dig tunnels underground of a town that was infested with Electrode. The tunnels sent the Bomb Ball Pokémon to an open field where they’d live in peace.

Diglett appear in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness special as members of the Wigglytuff Guild. They sounded the alarm whenever intruders stepped into the Guild.

Several Diglett also appeared in DP110.

Tomb Raider Underworld – Eidos – Wii

The Wii doesn’t often fare well when it comes to multi format releases. often developers wave the Wiimote in gamer’s faces like a lollypop and hope it will distract them from the fact that they’ve spend £30 on a pile of steaming old poo. We half expected the same of Tomb Raider Underworld. We were wrong. Sorry.

tomb-raider-under_01sm

The game follows the same storyline as the other versions, and takes in all the same locations. Yes, it’s been pared back somewhat but what the game looses in scale it gains in finer detail. The fat has been trimed from several set-peice puzzles making for a shorter (arguably better paced) adventure, and greater variety is achieved with some brilliant pointer based puzzles.

Oddly, the stages are eerily lacking in wildlife. You’ll occasionally stumble on a dangerous creature, but not very often. Not that it matters as the sense of achievement gained from cracking a tricky puzzle far outways the mild panic caused by the slightly wobbly combat.

tomb-raider-under_05sm

But what of that Wiimote, have Lara’s abilities been unnecassarily mapped to an upward flick and sideways waggle? No, thank goodness. The only concessions here to gesture based controls are entirely logical and add to the enjoyment. For instance point at the screen to aim Lara’s weapons, raise and lower the remote and nunchuck to pull a switch.

A further trend-bucking feature is the sheer retina stroking loveliness of the visuals. It may lack the polish of the next-gen versions, but each environment teems with detail and Lara looks and moves like an olympic gymnast. Like Mario Galaxy and Resident Evil 4 before it Underworld proves the Wii games don’t have to look like something the N64 sicked up.

In short, Underworld is one of the finest Wii games to be released this year and offers a shining beacon of hope for Nintendo fans who are sick of waiting for a new Zelda. Time to dust off your Wii, we reackon.

Real Life Legend Of Zelda

Preview – Mario & Zelda Sequels

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed last July that Mario and Zelda teams are currently hard at work on brand new games. The specific issues are that these games have to offer something fresh and new. With the teams still in the planning stages for what these (hopefully) amazing new ideas will be, we wouldn’t expect to see or hear anything more until the next E3 event this summer at the earliest. Even that may be a little optimistic. Rest assured we WILL know something this year, and that alone makes these two worthy of a post here.

Pokemon Of The Week – Delibird

Delibird is a dual-type Ice/Flying Pokémon. It is Pokedex number is #225. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.  Delibird is a red penguin-like Pokémon with a sack-like tail. It has a patch of fluffy feathers on its chest that resembles a beard. Delibird has a white face with black rings around its eyes. Delibird’s beak and feet are light-yellow.

Delibird’s most famous power is that it attacks by giving presents to its opponents. These presents, glowing orbs pulled from inside its tail, often explode, damaging the enemy. However, this move is unpredictable, even for the Delibird. The effect of the present could harm an opponent, or it could even help it! Delibird is the only known Pokémon that learns Present by leveling up.

Delibird are often delivering items to either Pokémon or people. The deliveries are often from humans, but may be from Pokémon. Delibird tend to live in mountainous regions, making their nests over sharp cliffs.

In the anime, Delibird first appeared in Delibird’s Dilemma under the ownership of Santa Claus. Ash’s Totodile shot a Delibird that was delivering presents clear out of the sky with Water Gun-propelled snowball. Pikachu and co. had to help the Delivery Pokémon find the five presents before midnight.

Delibird’s first appearance in the main series was in Dues and Don’ts. It was owned by an elderly talent scout from Team Rocket. Since that episode, the Delivery Pokémon kept following Jessie, James and Meowth to collect money that the three of them owe. Fortunately for the Rocket Trio, Delibird was no longer able to tail them since the action moved to the Hoenn Region. Delibird has also appeared in Grating Spaces and The Thief That Keeps On Thieving.

Ninjatown – South Peak – Ds

Ever played a Tower Defence game? You know, where waves of monsters walk from point A to point B and you have to create weapon-equipped towers to stop them doing so? Well, Ninjatown is essentially Tower Defence with adorable Ninjas.

Created by a company called Shawnimals(also responsible for cutsey plush toys featuring said Ninjas), your job is to defend Ninjatown from an invasion of Wee Devils who want to get their hands on the Ninja’s secret cookie recipe. Built air and ground units, upgrade them and use Old Master Ninja’s special powers (such as blowing into the microphone to push enemies back in range) to finish the devils off before hope is lost! All in all, this is a stylish and cute take on a classic game that will charm you with simplicity.

Vice Editor’s Note

Hey, Kitnaz here. I’m the Vice Editor of Peanutmaster and here’s what i think about the next year of gaming.

The Wii motion plus comes out with Wii Sports Resort this April in the UK. The Motion Plus copies your hand movements exactly to make more realistic gaming. Nintendo are working on new Zelda, Red Steel and Mario games for the Wii which will use the Motion Plus. The release date for these is unknown but they should hit Japan by October.

Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon Ranch: Platinum edition add some new elements to the pokemon world, which I will not spoil for you here, but read the latest ONM or check out http://www.Serebii.net for some more info.

The lead singer for Nickelback is starting a campaign to rid the UK of the terrible Guitar Hero and Rock Band games. He says they are responsible for the lack of good bands, as everyone just goes on guitar hero instead, but honeslty:

Wii – £150-£200
Guitar Hero/Rock Band – £50-£60
Extra instruments – £20-£30

Stagg Strat Guitar – £80-£100
12 weeks of Guitar lessons – £60

which is cheaper?

And on another note: Nintendo are FINALLY releasing Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the virtual console in February. This is the sequel to Ocarina of Time, and whilst not as good as Link to the Past, is still a lot of fun to play, so check it out.

On WiiWare this month I reccommend the new Bomberman mini-game, it is amazing multiplayer fun for novices and pros alike.

-peace.

Kitnaz
