Pokemon Of The Week – Dialga

Dialga  is a dual-type Steel/Dragon legendary Pokémon. It is Nat. Dex number #483. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Dialga is the mascot of Pokémon Diamond Version, appearing on the boxart. In that version you find Dialga atop Mount Coronet, after beating the Team Galactic Boss and getting the Master Ball.

Dialga is dinosaur-like, similar to Palkia, though it seems to be based off of a sauropod. It is mainly dark blue with some gray metallic portions, such as its chestplate, which has a diamond in the center. It also has various light blue spots. It has a somewhat wing-like structure on its back, and a crest on its head, resembling a type of dinosaur. Dialga also has long claws and a short tail.

Dialga has the ability to warp time by either speeding it up, slowing it down, or stopping it altogether. Similar to most other Dragon-types, Dialga is capable of wielding various elemental attacks (except for Water attacks). Dialga can also utilize several Ground- Rock- and Steel-type moves. It is one of the few Pokémon that can use Aura Sphere. Dialga’s powers can be amplified by the Adamant Orb. Dialga is the only known Pokémon that learns Roar of Time (apart from an event Darkrai released for the tenth movie in Japan, the Toys “R” Us and Nintendo World Store Darkrai, and Smeargle which can Sketch the move).

Being that Dialga, like Palkia, primarily resides in a different dimension, its behavior is nearly impossible to study. Dialga lives in another dimension, and can only be summoned to the main Pokémon universe by using the Red Chain. This is what  the Team Galactic Boss uses to bring it to him atop Mount Coronet.

in the anime Dialga appears in the tenth movie of the Pokémon anime along with Palkia. It fights with Palkia and Darkrai, nearly destroying Alamos Town. Dialga’s statue appeared with its silhouette in A Secret Sphere of Influence!. Dialga’s statue also appeared in DP110 and DP111. Dialga also makes a cameo in the Together and Diamond and Pearl openings.
