Pokemon Of The Week – Snorlax

140px-143snorlax

Snorlax is number #143 in the Pokedex. In the Generation I and II games, as well as Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, wild Snorlax can be found sleeping in inconvenient locations throughout Kanto. In order to catch one, a trainer must first awaken it with music from either a Poké Flute or PokéGear.

A Snorlax’s body is composed of mostly its belly, as it only wakes up to eat and seldom exercises. Its head is also big, and it has two pointed teeth sticking out. Its feet are extremely big compared to most Pokémon, so as to provide balance. Its arms are short, however, they are long enough for Snorlax to reach out, grab its lunch and put it in its mouth. Snorlax’s big belly provides huge amounts of defense, thus, not many predators bother hunting it.

Snorlax spend the majority of their time sleeping, surviving off of their stored up fat. Many Snorlax only awaken once a month, and that is so they can find more food. A hungry Snorlax isn’t satisfied until it consumes 900 pounds of food, and then it goes back to sleep. If one ever sees a sleeping Snorlax, he or she should not wake it up, because these Pokémon become very grumpy if their peaceful dreams become interrupted. Several Psychic-type Pokémon using Dream Eater find this out the hard way. Snorlax are often in mountains and forests. However, they sometimes wander into towns and streets and sleep there.

Snorlax will eat anything and everything that is edible, they aren’t really very picky. Upon finding something new on its territory, a resident Snorlax will put it in its mouth to see if it’s something that can be eaten. Snorlax are fond of large, thorny vines as a snack item.

180px-ag149_107

In the anime, Snorlax first appeared in Wake Up Snorlax!. This Snorlax was blocking the water flow to a small village.

In Snack Attack!, a Snorlax was eating the grapefuits of the Grapefruit Islands. Ash managed to capture it near the end of the episode. After the adventures in the Orange Islands, Ash’s Snorlax spent most of its time at Professor Oak’s lab. Training Daze featured a red Snorlax which Jessie, James and Meowth, while competing with Butch, Cassidy and Raticate, were sent to steal in order to become official Team Rocket field agents. The Snorlax turned out to be Viper, the Team Rocket Academy Drill Sergeant, in disguise. In Lights, Camerupt, Action, a Snorlax was a sheriff in a western-themed Pokémon movie. In The Garden of Eatin’, another Snorlax was causing trouble for a man named Marcel by eating the bananas in his Slakoth Banana Garden. Marcell’s newly evolved Vigoroth defeated the Snorlax, allowing him to capture it. Afterwards, Marcell made an attraction around his new Snorlax: a relaxation room.

A Snorlax also appeared near the end of Destiny Deoxys, evolving from Munchlax in order to stay afloat during a ‘flood’ of malfunctioning robots. In Queen of the Serpentine, a Snorlax made a cameo as one of Lucy’s pets. Roman, who appeared in A Full Course Tag Battle!, owns a Snorlax.

‘Best’ Little Big Planet Levels – Part 1

After a few initial, post-launch hiccups before it’s release, LittleBigPlanet has taken off rapidly. Hundreds, if not thousands, of PSN users have been uploading a continuous stream of homemade levels to the game’s straining servers, with varying levels of quality and dedication. And because of that, LittleBigPlanet has become like every other service that relies on user-driven content: for every good thing someone creates, there are dozens of half-assed, broken levels made by people who think smoking weed is automatically HILARIOUS.

Of course, that also means there are a lot of diamonds in the rough. If you know how to find them, LBP can offer you some incredible levels made by talented, dedicated people (sometimes a little too dedicated, maybe). And while the huge amount of content out there means we can’t claim that the levels we’re about to showcase are necessarily the “best” (c’mon, that’d be like trying to find the best videos on YouTube), we can guarantee that they’re slick, (mostly) smart, a lot of fun and absolutely worth your time. Here is our first pick:

GOD OF WAR – DEMON SKULL

By geosautus

Some of you are inevitably going to look down your nose at this and any other level that’s inspired by an existing game, but Demon Skull is nonetheless a fun, surprisingly beautiful homage to the God of War series. It begins innocently enough, with verdant backdrops, Sackboy-shaped Kratos statues and chests full of red-painted score bubbles that take a about a second of continuous grabbing to open. But before too long, you’ll be pushing a caged Sackboy up a ramp to “sacrifice” him to a blazing furnace, carefully positioning a motorized cart to haul around a giant, leering head and taking an obligatory trip to Hades, where you’ll shove a bunch of screaming lost souls into a fiery pit.

All of this is complemented by a few gigantic, elaborate deathtraps; our favorite involves a bloodstained wave of stone columns that squash anything that fails to run through them as quickly as possible. Of course, it’s not the complete God of War experience; that would take a pair of chain-blades and constant bloody dismemberment, both of which are – at best – tough to replicate in LBP’s happy platform-hopping world. But if you’ve got some Kratos-themed preorder bonuses that just seem out of place tromping through African savannahs and Dia de los Muertos-themed weddings, this is a pretty kickass level to run them through.

Next Time: THE Little Big Planet Calculater Level – coming soon…

Urban Dead Hints And Tips

Hi, I am Peanut. I am the second Moderator at Peanutmaster’s Game Guide. At the moment I am really into games like Urban Dead, Assault Cube, and BREIFLY Puzzle Pirates…. Dont Go There. Anyway, here is one of my guides. You can read more of them on the Mini Reviews And Cheats section (that’s what I specalise in).

SURVIVOR TIPS

1-Find a good safe house

Generally you’ll want to find a good safe house. These are usually police stations and hospitals and fire stations. The reason you’ll want to find these places is because they’re generally full of survivors and are heavily barricaded (you’ll need to use the free running skill to enter) and have good equipment like guns health packs and fire axes.

2-NEVER STAY IN THE OPEN

Plz plz plz find a safe spot like a house before you run out of turns cos your easy pickings for zombies and at least even the most ruined or unbarricaded houses leave you hiding from zombies unless there in the building your in.

3-PICK THE RIGHT SKILLS AND CHARACTER

At the start you’ll be able to pick skills. CHOOSE WISELY because they’ll save ur life. The best one to use in my view (and best person to be at the start) is the scout cos they can free run. That basically means that when your in a building you can go directly into the building next to you without going outside and can get through the strongest barricades making you basically really safe and remember-THE MOST BARRICADED BUILDINGS ARE THE MOST SAFEST BUILDINGS AND CARRY THE BEST EQUIPMENT.

4-USE THE WIKIPEDIA MAP

This map will help you know which place are safe and what places are not.

ZOMBIE TIPS

1-CHECK EVERY BUILDING TO SEE IF YOU CAN GET IN.

Lets face it, even the most stupidest survor will try to hide inside. Check in the most battered place with very little barricaded buildings to see if you can find some easy pickings. And try every door. This leads to my next tip…

2-WHEN YOU FIGHTING A VICTIM, NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT TO KILL THEM.

It’ll be a rare oppotunity to find a survivor in an unbarricaded building (you would usually have to bring the barricade down before attacking a survivor) so when you do find someone, KEEP ATTACKING!!!!!!
You’ll get experience and hopefully kill the guy off. But remember- fail and run out of turns and the next day your victim may have escaped or attacked you and knocked you down so you’ll have to waste action points to get back up.

3-JOIN A ZOMBIE CREW
Basically, the more zombies there are the more chance that you’ll be able to enter a heavily barricaded building and kill all the survivors off. FIND A CREW AND REMAIN SLIGHTLY SAFE.

Pokemon Of The Week -Luxray

Luxray’s pokedex number is #450. It evolves from Luxio starting at level 30. It is the final form of Shinx.

Its appearance is based on that of a fully-grown lion. It has three rings on the backs of its legs, similar to Luxio (which has two) and Shinx (which has one). The female has a shorter mane than the male. Luxray has special eyes designed for x-ray vision.

In the wild, Shinx, Luxio, and Luxray generally hunt for food. Evidence of this is plainly given in Luxray’s Pokédex entry: “It has eyes that can see through anything… it can spot prey hidden behind solid objects.”

The above picture shows Marble’s Luxray and Ash’s Pikachu from the anime. Marble owns a Luxray. It appears in Luxray Vision!.  A Luxray made an appearance in The Rise of Darkrai.

Little Big Planet – Sony – PS3

Some Assembly may be aquired…

Nothing in life worth doing is easy. Attaining the perfect body takes hours of toil at the gym, acheiving the perfect mind requires hitting the books hard, and creating the perfect Little Big Planet level demands patience, creativity a decent grasp of physics and the steady hands of a brain surgeon. But the results can be stunning. Absolutely stunning.

For proof look no further than the game’s Story Mode. It’s an incredible feat of design that looks, sounds and plays like a dream.  At heart it’s a complex 2D platformer with an emphasis on physics dressed in next-gen finery, but the sense of gobsmacking wonder a mere five minutes play time will produce is staggering. Here is a handmade world of weird and wobbly invention, stuffed to the brim with bizarre characters, collectable doodads and clever platforming challenges. Even the ordinary is extraordinary with familiar platform cliches like mine carts, lava rivers and collapsing platforms managed with such flair that they feel entirely fresh.

And then we loaded up Create Mode and collapsed in a heap. We felt nervous at first; however could we hope to reproduce the wonders  we’d just witnessed? We fiddled about for a bit and felt angry, disheartened and angry. We started to disbelieve that Story Mode was created using the creation tools at all. So we gave up and played through again, and started to notice the tell-tale signs that told us we’d got it wrong. For every event, big or small there’s a switch or mechanism visable. That’s when Little Big Planet starts to reveal it’s true genius; all of it’s workings are on show for those who care to look. It’s happy to share it’s secrets, eager to encourage you to do better.

Feeling newly confident that we could, with a little work, produce something magical we reloaded Create mode and began working our way through the tutorials. Even these are astounding. Voiced by Steven Fry they are some of the wordiest, funniest, best animated in-game tutorials to ever grace a console. they make the whole learning progress a delight – even for old hands like us who usually absolutely loathe tutorials.

Before long we had grasped how things worked… There’s a massive variety of things to do.  The only limit to what you can create is your imagination.

The whole process is navigated using a handy device called the Pop-it menu. With the press of a buttonit allows you to create, decorate and manipulate things (and by ‘things’ we mean everything!). You can select from a staggering range of materials (from plain old cardboard to intricately carved wood and metal) and then select a shape before placing it in the world. Once your imagination is bubbling over you can add more shapes, bolting them onto your creation with everything from glue to elastic to motorised bolts. If things aren’t behaving how you want them to select the Pop-it menu and tweak them until they do!

There are a staggering range of devices on offer al of which are pleasingly versatile.  Take, for instance the variety of switches available. First we built a door, attached a wich and hooked it up to a simple two-way switch. No, too simple. Instead we hooked the switch up to some explosives. Entertaining, yes, but it was far too obvious. Finaly, we settled for a sticker-operated switch that will only open the way when a specific sticker has been slapped onto the corresponding panel. Genius. And then there’s the range of creature peices, lights, sound effects and pre-made contraptions to consider. Whew. It’s an incredibly versatile tool-kit that once grasped opens up endless possiblities for level creation. Seriously, every night since playing Little Big Planet we have gone to sleep dreaming of new contraptions, constructions and creatures to start work on. And every morning we have fired up the PS3 and tried them out. There really is tremendous scope to this game, and we’ve barely scratched the surface.

It’s not flawless. At times the Create mode feels so intricate that it’s overwhelming. It can also be very fiddly. The game world is 2D, but there are several planes in which you can place objects. Learning to understand these layers is key to success, but making mistakes is a big part of the learning process. Prepare to mess up, get frustrated, scap things and start again. It’s frustrating at first but as your grasp of what is and isn’t possible (it’s all down to physics) improves, so does then sense of acheivement when you finally built a contraption that works as you intended.

Like we said, it takes hard work to get the best out of Little Big Planet. But every little moment of defeat is repaid later on with a snowballing sense of achievement.Even better, you wont be working alone. In fact, should you choose to, you can sit back with your feet up and wait for new levels to magically spawn in front of your eyes. After all, one of the best things about the game is that it will gain a vibrant online community itching to share their latest masterwork with fellow sackboys and girls.

Inevitably then, scoring a game like Little Big Planet takes a bit of vision, a little faith. With such a massive emphasis on user-generated content we have to trust that what the public will create will be up to scratch.  Judging by how inventive would-be coders have been with simple level creators like Line Rider and the versatility of the tools on offer here,  we’ve got no doubt or worries. Someone, somewhere wil create something astounding (I have already seen some amazing creations by clever people inspired by Shadow Of The Colossous and even Tetris!). Potentially somebody will create something more impressive, entertaining and inventive than the bundled story missions. And while that person won’t be us, we’re very excited that thanks to Little Big Planet, anything is possible. It’s all up to you now, so get out there and create something incredible.

Here’s something brilliant someone’s created – a Little Big Planet version of God Of War’s Kratos!

Little Big Planet News

Today I heard that Little Big Planet’s release date was to be held back. Again. But what had happened now?

Every copy so far had had to be destroyed, and the whole game recorrected. But what had gone wrong? Nothing. The simple fact was, people that that the music was offensive. WHAT THE HELL!?

Apparently, the background music contained phrases from the Muslin holy book. And I thought it was just the burbling of Loco Roco style murmering. Clearly not. But alas, maybe one day, hopefully in the near future, we WILL be playing Little Big Planet, as little sack people, content with the not-offensive-to-muslim’s music.

UPDATE: Finally, Little Big Planet has been relesed! Bless all of those developers who helped it all happen! A review will be comming soon! 😀

Assault Cube – Online

A game I can actually play on my computer!!!

Your mates have just cleared out the passage to the enemy flag and it looks pretty clear. Your team mate tells you to go ahead to get the flag. Suddenly all hell breaks loose as sniper fire and machine gun bullets rage through your envading party and one teamate turns to meaty chunks. A small group (plus you) run to get flag and are mostly picked off. You give cover from fire to the guy with the flag. You desparately call for back up and as you get closer to your flag you see a large group of your guys ready to defend, you get hit a few times and the flag carrier goes down! So you pick up the flag in the chaos and stumble to your flag to get one point then just repeat the process!!!

This is pretty much what Assault Cube is about. Not, as the name states, cubes assaulting each other. Although that would be good. But this is better than any cube assaulting game. It’s definitly the best Online First Person Shooter I have played.

The graphics are like  a Ps1 games. But this is an online game game we’re talking about. And it’s a great fps, with brilliant teamwork (teamates who are real people are much better than retarded AI) and that makes very good gameplay. Skills are needed in Assault Cube, so this is for anyone who has played any good first person shooter and wants to ramp it up to the next level!

The only majorly bad thing is that you have to download it. Not bad for some, but for others…. Still, Assault Cube is very fun! Try it now!

RATING: 95%

WARNING UPDATE!! Recently my friend tried to download Assault Cube and got a virus. No-ne else has had this problem to my knowledge, but if you have please tell us! Play this with care.

Written by Peanut, who reviews the online games. See more of his reviews on the Mini Reviews page.

Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway – Ubisoft – Xbox 360, Ps3

Has this WW2 shooter run out of gas?

After an E3 showing two years ago that almost stole the show, we’ve waited… And waited… And waited for BrothersIn Arms 3 to finnaly emerge from behind cover. So, with the final mission completed, is it worth another foray into the killing fields of WW2?

Put simply: just about. It shines when the screen is rammed with tens of dying soldiers and you’re demonstrating your war qualities with all manner of flanking andsuppresing techniques. But for all the trumpeting about destructible environments, new cover mechanics and advanced AI, Hell’s Highways – disapointedly – feel’s very much like a BiA 1.5.

Every so often Baker will be temporarily forced to go it alone – and it’s here where the rather stale shooting engine is highlighted. Even worse, for every progression, there’s seemingly a regression. We love the new bazooka crew; their ability to obliterate sniper nests or make short work of any nazis behind cover never fails to make us woop with glee. But why has Baker’s Tank detachment not only been retired, but – even worse – now been reduced to awful, painfully basic stand-alone shoot-’em-up missions? It’s a terrible design decision.

Similarly, the choice to ramp up the gore to Soldier Of War-rivalling levels is mystifying. While we’ll admi8t a few sly chortle as an unfortunate Nazi is torn in two, intestines looping out, forearm detatching from elbow and head exploding into mush – it sits massively uncomfortably with the otherwise wonderfully told, pathos-packed story of humanity and friendship during WW2. Grandpa wouldn’t be pleased.

Hell’s Highway still offers something unique in the pantheon of identikit first-person shooters, and fans of the series will welcome it with open arms. Us? we’re fans, but just a bit dissapointed all those delays didn’t result in something truly revolutionary.

The Peanutmaster team has gone old shcool!

To put it simply, Zelda: A Link to the Past is one of the finest RPGs in existence. Everything is perfect – the bold lines and subtle pastel-tones of the graphics, the triumphant rendition of the Zelda theme, the excellent yet simple combat system, the brilliantly conceived logic puzzles. Nintendo left nothing to chance here and crafted one of the finest pieces of software to grace the SNES.

Link to the Past is a big game with lots to do and see. It’s a great achievement in pretty much every way. You play as Link (or whatever you name him), and you must destroy Ganon who plans on taking over or destroying Hyrule. You start off with little to no skill and earn new ones as you progress through the game. You’ll get many items such as the bow, hammer, and various magical weapons.

Later in the game you’ll travel to a different side of Hyrule, The dark side. It’s almost identical in design but what sets it apart from the light world of Hyrule is the dark enemies and dungeons. The dungeons in Link to the Past are indeed brilliant. There are plenty of puzzles to put your mind against in these dungeons as well. Some simple, some difficult, and some that will plain out give you a headache. At the end of almost every dungeon is a boss. Most of them are gigantic beasts that are extremely challenging at times.

It’s easy to overlook the most important things in Zelda, so you have to be sure to keep your eyes wide open at all times. Throughout the land of Hyrule you’ll discover new areas and meet new people. Some helpful, some not, and some just plain weird. Link to the Past has a lot of personality and a good story as well.

Amazingly the game doesn’t feel like a retro title, even when played today. That’s the sign of a true classic. A welcome addition to the gaming library!

RATING: 100%

Nothing can beat this ultimate classic RPG!
