Fossils are possibly the easiest collectable to find, as the don’t move around. It was the collection I completed the first. The main tip I can give you is to look for the strange markings on the floor. Sometimes you may dig up a random Oid-thing, but usually there’s a fossil.
Every day, it’s a good idea to boot up your game of Animal Crossing and start digging for fossils (assuming you have a shovel, of course). When you’ve got a new fossil, take it to Blathers in the museum and have him check it out. If the fossil is a new one, he’ll ask to keep it in the museum. And while building up your display of fossils is a healthy goal, it’s also fun to sell fossils for cash. Fossils are generally worth a lot of Bells.
